The Orlando Shooting: A Catholic response

We can no longer stand by and do nothing.  We must address the causes of such tragedy, including easy access to deadly weapons.  That last part, by my lights, is like taking up the situation in 1940s Germany and saying we must address the easy access to Zyklon B.  It is entirely possible that access or no, the real causes are much deeper, and much more obvious, than we care to admit.  Which is a problem.  When people scramble to avoid addressing the main part of a problem, you can bet Bill Gates' bank account that the problem will continue.  BTW, it's worth noting that exactly what other causes might need addressed beyond easy access to deadly weapons are not spelled out.
