Happy Birthday Frank Sinatra
Today is the legend's 100th birthday. It would be remiss of me if I neglected to point it out. My Dad was the ultimate Frank Sinatra fan, and I grew up listening to ol'Blue Eye's music. I was always partial to his Columbia years personally. Not that listening to him was unusual for me. I always had a pretty eclectic taste in music. I liked Van Halen and KISS, the Beatles and Beethoven and Big Band, Mozart and Metallica, the Carpenters and Kenny Rogers, Barry Manilow and Bach. And, of course, Frank Sinatra. So happy birthday. You were the entertainer of the century. An institution unto itself. You did it your way. And even if theologically that is an oft condemned point of view, you can't help but admire someone who at least admitted it, especially when compared to what you hear today. And thanks Dad, for introducing me to a side of the music world that was outside of big hair and smashed guitars.

Well if you believe in forever...
ReplyDeleteThen life is just a one-night stand.
If there's a rock and roll heaven.
You know they've got a hell of a band.
=)
With, of course, the Chairman of the Board overseeing things. :)
