Jimmy Kimmel declares the end of civilization as we know it

Kimmel, who like the rest of the late night "comedians" is now a devoted mouthpiece for the Democratic party establishment, says that ending Net Neutrality will, well, do something cataclysmic.  It's all over.  We're all going to die.  Or something.  As comedians, they reserve the right to play fast and loose with facts since they're just comedians (wink, wink).

I think the press's and pop culture's dogged devotion to the leftist political agenda, and its tendency to utilize hysterics, hyperbole, demagoguery, and allow such to be the basis for debating policy, has had an impact on the national psyche.  If you constantly hear variations on 'this is it, we're all doomed', it has to have some bearing on the day to day life of people.

Maybe someday we'll return to a time where we can debate such things as adults and it won't always involve our eternal destinies, but I don't see it changing anytime soon.

  1. All of my adult life, I have been told that the next election was the most important of all time and that the world will come to an end if our side doesn't win. That i should be afraid of this or that threat to our civilization, which will destroy everything. You know what, I am tired of being afraid, it's just to exhausting.

    1. I often wonder what impact this has on our society as a whole.

    2. I think this is the source of much of our polarization. How can you compromise with the devil. If everything is a existential crisis then there is never any room to compromise. If there is no room to compromise then you never have to negotiate. It is in negotiation that we see the other, as a person who has legitimate concerns. Our society has become fear based. Many children don't really know how to play because their parents won't let them, they might get hurt.

    3. That's so true. Of course the trick is to recognize the difference between what can and cannot be compromised with. Just like what does and doesn't constitute a major crisis or threat. I think sometimes we can err on the opposite side if we're not careful. But you are right, I think we've spent so long hearing that we should fear, or hate, or neighbors we've lost the ability to just enjoy them.

  2. I feel so much better now. I can plan for the end of civilization by prepping! Where is the nearest Mormon Prep store!

    1. If you miss this end of the world, I'm sure there will be some more by tomorrow.
