The power of liberal group think

Is that when we see this:

And then see this:

Most of us say 'wow, this time it looks like the Republicans have fielded a diverse group of candidates of all age groups'. 

But when liberal think tanks see it, they look beyond the obvious and base their arguments on the old 'it's still the party of old racist white guys, not like the diverse and youthful Democrats!' meme.  It's tough to deal with people who look straight at a brick wall and insist it isn't there.
