Ryan Rogers is a fourteen year old who went on a bike ride but never came home. The nightmare of every parent. I haven't heard of this until now. Pray for him and his poor family. I can't comprehend what they are going through now. May God give them peace and the strength to merely endure the coming days. And may God welcome young Ryan into a far better place than he has left.
As for the case, the suspect is a black man with multiple run ins with the law who is said to have a long list of rants and conspiracy theories to his name. Those theories are not mentioned in any story I've found. The official report is that the motive is unknown. Let that last part sink in and you'll see it's time to pray for Ryan and his family, but also for all who have been marked expendable by our society, its leaders, and its followers.
Ever present God, you called us to be in relationship with one another and promised to dwell wherever two or three are gathered. In our community, we are many different people; we come from many different places, have many different cultures. Open our hearts that we may be bold in finding the riches of inclusion and the treasures of diversity among us. We pray in faith. - Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
