How about that

So yesterday was the late, great Roy Orbison's birthday.  A FB page I follow had this picture up to celebrate:

That is the first picture of him without his glasses I've ever seen.  And it's not what I thought he would look like.  I can't picture in my mind now what I thought he would look like, but not that.  Not bad or anything, just different than I expected.

Nonetheless, an awesome songwriter and musician who was respected by almost anyone who played music from the 60s through the 90s.  And given the variety of music styles in that spread, that's not bad.

  1. It is my contention is that there are four or five original templates for rock stars. Roy is one of those originals, the others being Elvis, Little Richard, Fats Domino and Chuck Berry. Later stars however great are just copies. For example Bruce Springsteen is a copy of Roy. I still miss the original.

    1. That could be why so many musicians of such different styles would still gather together and celebrate Roy's music. It might also be why The Beatles were able to so rebuild rock, since they were willing to take a variety of styles and influences and fuse them together.
