This seems significant

I've not seen it pop up yet in many mainstream outlets, at least in the US.  Apparently a group of 2000 women sued Switzerland over its failure to curb global warming - and won.  At least in some international court in France.

Something about the story suggests that this is far closer to the end goal behind the Global Warming narrative than making bank off of green energy.  I don't know why.  It's the sort of thing that gives me the impression of people in the future saying 'We never thought it would lead to this.'

I don't know.  Just something about this says more trouble is ahead.  That we can move past 'Are you sure this is settled science?' to 'Yes, and you are legally guilty because you failed to address the problem as defined by the latest settled science' makes me see clouds on the horizon.

It's yet another example of very wealthy people (now whole nations) playing at fantasy politics, like the French elite before their 1789 Revolution, or the ruling classes of Europe before 1914 and 1938. One blessing and curse of money is insulation from many short-term "bumps" we encounter from the "outside", that translates among the unwise to the delusion that we can pretend that that "outside" does not really exist. Reality will win in the end, whether we wisely negotiate it or are overthrown by it (revolution or economic collapse).
I do not see this country bound by any treaty that could lead to court-ordered environmental diktats, not would the current Supreme Court likely cooperate. The cultural pressures to e.g. ban cars, meat, private housing or more than one child might still cause problems, until the people show by their votes they won't crucify the American worker on a cross of green (to borrow a phrase).

    1. Like most things, I think it will tank Europe before it does America. But like most things we've seen, it will still be part of the rot that erodes our freedoms, principles and values. Again, much of the activism now seems to stink with other goals and agendas than the issues being advocated, at least as I see it.

    2. The fantasy politics bit is right. Another example would be the continued jostling for Hitler's approval in April, 1945. But then, Nazi and Soviet politics were fantasies, but they still managed to do a great deal of damage.

We live in an age in which many powerful people SIMULTANEOUSLY believe that only the material world exists AND that sometimes the immaterial soul has a different sex than the material body, in which case it is the material body that must be changed. Oh, and these same people will say that they are on the side of science.

  2. Old women whose lives are almost over. One wonders why they just don’t take their passion to its logical conclusion and take themselves out of the equation instead of attacking everyone else.

    1. A generation that was supposed to save the world but realized it wasn't equal to the task. That's how one of my sons described it. Realizing they are close to the final curtain, it's now a mad dash for anything, including the destruction of our inheritance, if it will only be worth more than a footnote in a future history book.

    2. Bernadette, you say that as though you knew you would still be alive tomorrow at sunrise. Every generation is a dying generation. The generation of today's kindergartners may be dying slowly, but deaths do occur, and new births to that generation do not, nor do resurrections.

If you have nothing better to say against someone than that he or she is old or that his or her generation is dying, it's time for you to shut up. You are only contributing mean-spiritedness.

And, yes, that also goes for David Griffey.

    3. Anon, no clue what you are talking about, other than a round about way of saying 'how dare you see things differently than I do' wrapped in some strange principle of 'it's all the same all the time so why mention anything?' Which makes me wonder why you even bring it up, if it's all the same anyway. Or does that not apply to us? You might want to rephrase your comment for the sake of clarity. Assuming, of course, you're not just a troll with no intention of actually engaging in a discussion.
