Fact

Only if you believe this is true and not humor:

Can you not see the problem here:

And in case you think this is something out of context or they aren't real stories, here is the NBC story, and here is the CBS story.

Yep.  Of course this isn't new.  Go back to any time ever, and you'll have different conclusions arrived at by different sources.  Eventually we figure out who is right, if anyone.  We then move on.  That's fine.

But we live in an ago of 'shut up and obey the [conformist] experts'.  We are told to accept whatever the proper experts say on any given day.  Period.  Even if it contradicts itself.

We don't see them held accountable if they are wrong.  We're told it's fact, shut up, obey, or face the music.  And this is possible due to all of those in various leadership positions around our nation and world that we imagined would safeguard us from such tyranny of the stupid.

  1. The one... comfort? Irony?

Is that it is like this everywhere. Just watched a video about how China represses any efforts to talk about any downside to its policies.

It seems to be human nature to be like that meme I showed you once: "Maybe if I say this, you'll shut up and do what I want."

    1. I've said the thing we used to call journalism is a big culprit. Sometimes it acts more like a secret police force that hunts down to discredit or undermine anyone who challenges the Left. I think of that 'Moms for Liberty' group or such. The minute they were noticed on the national stage, I saw days of reports about them, all of which were negative or 'what do they do behind closed doors' speculation. I do think we're already past being a free country, we just don't know it.

  2. Well, we do have a country overrun with intelligentsia: those educated beyond their intellectual capabilities (per Fulton Sheen’s definition). And they all need to prove they are part of the “super smart” class and definitely NOT deplorable, so they seem particularly susceptible to agreeing with “experts” in order to prove themselves such. The “expert” class is then artificially inflated in stature

    1. If they were slightly competent and accomplished anything positive, it might not be so bad. As it is, we're run by a generation of Cliff Clavins. High on arrogance, low on intelligence and accomplishment. Yet nobody will point out the obvious.

    2. Again, I read the articles. My point was those rushing forward with these headlines that contradict themselves as if they must be taken at face value or shut up because experts. The context in which I found them. Rather than remaining calm and figuring things will work themselves out - as we used to do in the olden days. Perhaps do more than read blog headlines and read the blog. You never know.

Oh, and again, actually having a name attached to your trolling would help. Right now all we can do is assume it's that little cowardly fellow who swings by to troll, doesn't have the courage to remain, and is too scared to adopt a name. Which does very little in leading anyone else to care about your anonymous opinions.

    3. I'm sorry Anon. I've changed my mind. You're clearly the same one who does drive by trolling here not infrequently. Usually popping off some critique or condemnation of something, and then not returning. Leaving no name to associate with you. You can even type one in - others do. But you don't, despite my requests that you do so at least, so we can know who is saying what. Because of that, I'm going to trashcan your comment. Feel free to criticize all you want, but 1) use a name to identify yourself, and 2) have the stones to come back and engage rather than just troll. Do that, and I won't do this to your future comments.

The old science teacher would like to point out that the day has been lengthening slowly for eons due to gravitational interaction with the moon. That wipes out the results of any minor redistribution of mass that might occur as water moves between the poles and the equator (as it's done dozens of times in the three Ice Age cycles we know about). My integral calculus is too rusty to run numbers on rotational momentum, alas. What bogus whingeing.

    1. There is science, and then there is whatever someone in the field of science says. I think the point is to keep everything at peak hysterics. Sometimes I feel this is nothing other than good business. What did scientific research get in terms of funding ages ago when they acted like Ben Stein asking for money? And how does that compare to funding being channeled toward scientific research with the perpetual headline of 'we're all going to die!'
