In two meaningful words: Trenton McKinley
Young Master McKinley had been in a tragic accident, was not expected to recover, and was scheduled to be taken off of life support, his organs prepared for donation to those in need.
And then he had what old timers call a miracle. A quaint concept for those who still believe in Creation rather than just the Universe. He showed signs of life, and voila! He's off of life support and improving. God be praised.
This is not some slam on the doctors, or cause for a volley of insults at the medical establishment. It is to say why those with faith in forces more awesome than the State had every reason to feel the Alfie Evans case, which was not the same as Charlie Gard case, had issues, and perhaps the infallibility of physicians couldn't always be trusted where pulling life support was concerned.
That the ironically self-titled New Prolife Movement, especially among Catholics, took up arms to attack and besmirch and vilify those fools and wretches who were bothered by Alfie's life support being removed, says a lot. That many in the NPLM further supported the hospital's decision to prevent the parent's from saving their child, sometimes resting on that old adage that parents are often a deplorable lot of incompetence and suspicious motives (unlike the purity of heart and infallible wisdom of the State Bureaucracy and medical professionals), says even more.
Sigh. Let's face it, the vaunted 'New Prolife Movement' acts more and more like a euphemism for 'slavishly devoted to the political Left.' Apparently it's job is to defend the indefensible, deflect from the obvious, and brutally attack, even by slander and libel, calumny, personal insult, and character assassination those who can see that the emperor is naked.
Those who were concerned about the tragic Alfie Evans case were right to be so. Those, with no real access to the actual medical records, who defended the decision to end his life while brutally attacking and vilifying those who believed he should live, must reconcile their decision with a new name in the mix, and that name is Trenton McKinley.
