The enemy of the Christian West is their friend

Thus

I'm old enough to remember when it was offensive that Western women, like journalists, had to don such apparel when visiting a Muslim nation.  Heck, I can remember when the very appearance of such apparel was seen as an affront to women's universal equality.  But I do believe that if that the Left, or some ally committed to the demise of the Christian West, said here wear this:

that liberal women would fall over themselves to do just that.  And not just feminists. For instance:

Yep. Because we know that nowhere in the Muslim world do those within the LGBTQ lifestyle enjoy anything close to equality, if not the ability to survive.  But the enemy of the West is the Left's friend.  Better the Muslim world thrive even as it crushes gay rights than the country that panders to gay rights not be destroyed.

Oh, and I'm not stupid.  I know one of the Left's talking points is that if anyone not Euro-American does something bad, like oppress homosexuals, browbeat women, murder Jews - it's because they learned it from the West.  That is not only a common retort, but an increasingly accepted one. But that sort of BS that only an intellectual could believe is for another time.

Aristophanes saw this centuries ago, when he had the angry father in the "The Birds" burn down the school of sophists in Cloud-Cuckooland. Spock in the "Platonius" episode denounced "intellect without discipline", in the end obsessing in power (or hedonism). Looking at the modern academy, I'm starting to feel real Aristophanic.

    1. I wish it was intellect without discipline. At least it would have intellect. As it is, I think a big part of the problem is we've had people in our society's driver's seat who I wouldn't trust to feed my goldfish. Yet because they have a diploma and if they can get the media's ear, suddenly boys and girls don't exist anymore because of course not. One of only a thousand examples of such things from our best and brightest that your average middle ages peasant wouldn't believe.

Discipline joins intellect to reality, and when that connection is broken intellect decays, until it becomes the servant of appetite. Interestingly (to add another literary reference), that's how Bram Stoker describes Dracula: an animal's blind appetite ministered by a sharp mind of long (but limited) experience. Hence our modern Leftists.

    1. I think reality is the issue. I've seen it called the flight from reality. As if somewhere along the line, we stopped using science and scholarship to understand reality and decided we were going to use them to rewrite reality.

  3. Minnesota has to be full of electoral fraud in the Twin Cities area. That's the only reasonable explanation why they keep putting in complete and utter idiots into offices. Their leadership is neither competent not particularly intelligent. I always wonder though, why the good Lord permits such useful idiots to orchestrate such destruction of good while being apparently immune to its consequences. I mean, I know they'll get consequences one way or another in this life or the next, but I shudder for the soul who knows no consequences before eternal consequences.

    1. That's one of those mysteries we'll likely never know. But I admit, I've seen a lot of people asking what's wrong with Minnesota. It doesn't look like something that just started, but has been evolving over quite a few years.

    2. As a native Minnesotan, I can assure you that this has been going on for at least 30 years and probably longer. I think it's a combination of Scandinavian naivete and communism, to be perfectly honest. If you cannot imagine that others lack the same goodwill you have, and not only that you cannot fathom the utter MALEVOLENT will they have towards you, then you are ripe to be run roughshod over. Also, if you believe in your own righteous position as most communists and Minnesotans do, albeit in different ways, then you get insane positions pushed by the communists and very conservative living people who vote extremely progressively because they "can't tell others what to do."
Minnesota also has insane voting laws. Before all the nonsense about ballot harvesting and one person vouching for up to 8 others that has come out, felons have regularly and illegally voted in elections, but this is not revealed until months after the votes are certified.
Never forget that in 2008, Norm Coleman, a former governor, was poised to win the Senate seat up for grabs but over the weekend after the election a poll worker "found" votes in his van and that put Al Franken in the lead by 400 or so votes. It should have been hotly contested but it wasn't and that gave the Senate a 60-filibuster proof majority to ram Obamacare down our throats. Which was then upheld by John McCain and John Roberts, but I digress. Even now there's evidence that MN scanned nearly 200,000 votes twice in the last election. Walz won the governorship by 137,000 votes.
People have a hard time accepting that their fellow Americans are so hell-bent on selling them out, but it's true. The "long walk through the institutions" has been extraordinarily successful.
