So why is she smiling?
Because she's going to be an older sister, that's why! Yes, it's confirmed that the kiddos are going to be parents times two. Due date sometime in November. The first ultrasound confirms the happy news. So blessings all around this Easter season!
Then we have a pope named Bob who is - I can hardly bring myself to say it - a White Sox fan. I hear he also plays a mean tennis. That he took the name of Leo, any Leo, to me is a bonus point. I know, everyone is scared or thrilled or, in some cases, happy they have a new pope shaped cudgel with which to beat those reprehensible reprobates who pollute the beautiful Church because they didn't realize how close to God Pope Francis walked. For now, I'm putting my thoughts together. Since at least one reader seemed only concerned with me trashing Pope Francis, and wasn't interested in anything else I had to say, I might hold off with any 'Pope Francis: The Rebuttal' posts. Instead, I might reflect on things over the last decade or two and where I think we might go from here.
But then the other news, which is why it might be a bit. My mom, God bless her, is in the hospital owing to an injury from turning wrong in her chair, and a potentially tough diagnosis they're working through (she is in her 90s after all). I was all night at two different ERs, and will likely be back and forth with long commutes for a few while they help her through things. Because if it is anything major, typically patients are sent to one of the big hospitals in Columbus proper.
Prayers in both of these developments would be appreciated.
Until then, I appreciate those following things here, and will be back when I can. Until then, a photo that is near and dear to my heart right now:

ReplyDeleteOh no, li'l critter can walk and target everything within reach (and faster than Grandpa can remember). Congrats to the parents on the new one and my prayers will be with your Mom (and my Dad will be 90 in August).
Oh yeah. She keeps us busy. But in a good way. And thanks for the prayers! Congrats on your Dad, too.
DeleteI am so happy with this news. That's the happiest news I've heard in a long time. Thank you Dave for telling us. To be honest? That's better than knowing we have a Pope lol.
ReplyDeleteI must admit, it's news that's pretty close to the best. In a year of challenges they keep bringing us that wonderful gift of life, and we can't be happier.
DeleteCongratulations on the to-be grandchild. Praying for your mother and all who help in the caregiving. Have a mother who falls a lot and winds up in the emergency room, a labor of love to take care of her various recoveries, but very tiring.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the prayers. It's not easy taking care of her, but more than worth it. As I say, given all she was for us growing up, it's the least we can do.
DeleteCongratulations! The circle of life continues! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yes it does, and that's always a good thing.
DeleteThat is a great picture of your mom and grandbaby.
ReplyDeleteHow proud you must be that not only are your kids taking on the challenge of TWO kids on top of running a business and writing a book, but they seem to be excelling at all these challenges as well. What more proof could you have that you did something right, Dave?
May your family's blessings only continue to grow.
Thank ye. They do make me proud. I'd never go around declaring them good enough to walk on water, but as individuals, they do well. They're especially hard workers. Each one, when they've worked in various jobs, has always gotten rave reviews and frequently been able to move up quickly. Once when two of the boys were working at the same grocery store, I was shopping there and said something to one of them. The store manager was behind and stopped and asked if I was their dad. He told me they were both fabulous workers, always reliable, never trouble, and willing to go the extra mile, even if not asked. I have to say my proud of my kids meter ran pretty high that day. That both my son and daughter-in-law have done so much and even now are planning new ways to accommodate they're goals with the new baby on the way gives me all the reason to keep being glad.
