If you lose the birdwatchers, you've lost the West

So I saw this.  I had to do a double take. The American Ornithological Society is going to rename birds whose names are associated with Europeans.  That's because of course they are.  European means evil.  Evil cannot be forgiven or allowed to exist.  Evil must be erased and exterminated.  If you're having a hard time getting your head around young leftists cheering Hamas, joining with antisemitic chants, and saying the eradication of Israeli Jews just can't happen fast enough, this should help.

Remember, there were three fundamental dogmas with the Left, and now there are four:

1) In a five billion year old Utopian world of peace, love, joy and John Lennon songs, the vile Western Christian Tradition alone brought all evil and wickedness to the world, and nothing good.  This is especially true as some of those things we gave credit to the West for changing - like ending infanticide - are increasingly seen as virtues, not vices.

2) All of history is the Oppressed versus the Oppressor.  If you are in that Oppressor class for the moment (depending on the topic at hand), you are seen the way Jews were seen in 1930s Germany.  It can be any two groups - Male v. Female, White v. Black, Straight v. Gay, Sane v. Trans, whatever.  But in all cases the Oppressor is altogether wretched and evil and the cause of all suffering, deserving nothing that he has, but everything he will get.

3) A growing number of sins, especially bigotry and particularly racism, are irredeemable, all defining monolithic sins that demand the eradication of the sinner.  No forgiveness, no context, no nuance, simply erase. Just ask Columbus, Robert E. Lee, or Thom Jefferson.

4) Plus, since 2020, the Left has followed its tendency of calling good what it once called evil, and evil what it once called good to the next logical step.  That is, going beyond embracing censorship, judging, dismissing equality to embracing violence for the just cause. Gone is 'violence is never the answer', now it's 'violence can sometimes be a damn good answer.'

So when you see something like the AOS go all Taliban when it comes to Western history, imagine that in other circles.   I mean, when you think of threats to Western Civilization, birdwatchers aren't exactly what comes to mind.  Yet the easy and calm way in which they say these names must be erased, evil Europeans, scrub evidence of them, replace with appropriate words from not disposable civilizations, should be a wake up call.  That's how ubiquitous and implanted this thinking has become.

And if that's what the bird watchers are willing to do, then what are those radical activists and zealots in our leftwing indoctrination camps formerly known as universities going to do?  Well, we're seeing what, aren't we.  Even though the press has done yeoman's work trying to sweep it under the carpet, these radical anti-Westerners won't be silenced.  They support the Palestinians, and are happy to see Israel wiped out.  That includes in some circles wanting Israelis wiped out.  That includes, in some quarters, pointing out that it isn't despite the fact that most Israelis are Jews, but precisely because they are Jews.  That's because try as they might, in the minds of the young Left, those Jews just can't sever the ties that exist between them and the West.  And that's all you need to know.

After all, as the American Ornithological Society demonstrates, there is no room in our modern world for the taint of Western Evil.  And while the AOS may stop at renaming birds, others will happily take it to the next logical level.

Telling

While watching the OSU game last Saturday (I seldom watch modern TV otherwise), I caught a commercial for Colonial Williamsburg.  Or, should I say, Williamsburg.  The 'Colonial' being conspicuously absent.  I found a commercial for Williamsburg back in 2021 that is pretty much the same (it might be the same, I just caught it once during the game):

Notice there is nothing - no thing - to suggest anything other than some variation on Myrtle Beach or Clearwater Beach or any one of a hundred tourist destinations.  No history.  No Colonial America.  No Revolution.  No historical reenactments. No shot heard 'round the world. No history at all.  If you didn't know, you'd think it was a typical Disney resort, if that.

Compare to this:

That was the type of commercial in the 1990s that I saw when planning our first family vacation.  In 1997 we took our oldest, then only a couple years old, to our first true vacation as a young family.  We went to Colonial Williamsburg, in large part due to the commercials.  It was magical.  It was everything you want your first family vacation to be.

And the history!  Like the commercial, it was all over the place.  Everyone was in character at all times.  The lessons were broad and detailed, from the ugly and bad, to the more emphasized bravery and the heroism and the sacrifice and the overall debt we owe to our founders.  We went back in August 2001, and it was still good.  A bit hot for my taste (our first time was in late September).  But still fun, and with the three older boys (our third still being a toddler), it was a blast.

The last time we went, however, was in 2014 along with our youngest.  Disappointment doesn't begin to describe our experience.  Many reenactors stood about on their cell phones, paying scant attention to us.  Some were still good, but many didn't seem to care.  The tours were a mixed bag.  The first time we went in 1997 everything was period accurate no matter what the subject. That time?  Some tour guides showed up in jeans and jackets with flashlights.  Much preaching of course.  Naturally the lessons were exclusively negative: focus on persecution of Native Americans, sexism, bigotry and slavery in the 'every plantation and household was a gas chamber' template.  That prompted my second oldest to quip 'how did they have time to fight a revolution, what with all the time spent killing Indians, beating slaves and oppressing women?'.

Now, to see the commercials, the history isn't even the point.  Ignoring the history, if anything, is the point.  And the newest trigger word 'Colonial' is removed. I have no doubt it's there if you visit.  But if the marketers and advertisers have their way, we'll never know unless we go.

For decades - perhaps generations - we've been taught to hate the West, Christianity and America, though not necessarily in that order.  There was still enough hold over from olden times to dilute the message, especially for those of us who are around our forties or older.  But for the last couple generations, that is no longer the case.  For many coming into college now, they see Lincoln and Washington the way my generation was taught to see Hitler and Stalin.  And their nation, the United States?  They see it the way we saw the Nazis.   If' we're waiting for them to suddenly turn and start singing God Bless America, I fear we are going to have a long, long, long wait.

The prophet Trump

I am no fan of Donald Trump.  I have made that more than clear.  My favorite quip when accused of being some MAGA Trump fanatic is that I was actually ahead of the curve.  I didn't like Trump for all those years that Democrats and Hollywood liberals loved the guy and couldn't wait to party with him and ask him for money.  It didn't take him putting an 'R' in front of his name for him to become StatnHiterlTrump in my world.

Nonetheless, I admit the nation was better off going into the disaster of 2020 than it was in 2016.  There came a time when I couldn't drive to the store for bread and not see a new car sticker on a vehicle.  Wages went up.  ISIS was no longer the new normal.  Personal debt began to drop.  And savings were beginning to rise.

And, to be honest, he nailed the opposition for what it is.  In the great Charlottesville iconoclast protest, he said then that it has nothing to do with Robert E. Lee.  It is the beginning of a Taliban style assault on our very heritage, history and heroes.  It soon would be Lincoln and Washington and anyone linked to the past the Left would erase from the history books.

And so it is.  NYC is pondering, beyond paying off African Americans for alone ever having had ancestors who suffered, going St. Stalin on a laundry list of statues dedicated to almost any white person from the past including, but not limited to, George Washington.  Just as Trump said.

One reason I'm convinced people who otherwise couldn't abide Trump supported him, was because he stated the obvious when no other 'conservatives' would.  The Left is an anti-American, anti-Western, and anti-Christian force dedicated to destroying almost everything we have taken for granted.  And it does so by hook or by crook, through mendacity and lies, hypocrisy and utter corruption.  Perhaps he wouldn't say it today.  With Trump, you never know.  But he got it right then, and every day proves Trump right in that matter if nothing else.

Kudos to Senator Vance

Once again, we have American Indian activists trying to erase the name of a memorial to a white American of European descent.  Naturally the political Left would be tickled pink to see this happen as often as possible. And perhaps it may have had some traction in another age.  After all, I saw plenty of Republicans express outrage when statues of Christopher Columbus came toppling down here in thee Buckeye State.  Yet I saw none of them actually stop it or do anything to rectify it.  Big talk being a core Republican virtue.

But J.D. Vance - a politician I didn't care for - has stepped up and said no way.  He has gone further by saying it's time to ditch all of these renaming committees that only seem to exist for the purpose of going Taliban on America's heritage and Western history. Good for him I say.

I am never one to deny when a person I thought was the bee's knees has gone off the rails and lost my respect (I'm looking at you Dr. David Gushee and John Kasich).  But I'm equally prepared to reconsider a negative appraisal if I see the individual in question do the right thing, especially against a powerful opponent and amidst limp-wristed allies.

Our ministry of lies

There was an old joke a few years ago that went something like this:  If you're offended by the team name of the Washington Redskins, then there's a big chance you're not Native American.  That's because very few polls were mentioned regarding what Native Americans actually thought about the controversy.  When they were polled, we typically found most Native Americans didn't care, or actually liked such names (Washington Redskins, Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Indians).

But like black Americans who love America, or women who question feminism, or former homosexuals, or those regretting sex change surgeries, or Muslims who insist Islam has problems, or Chinese defectors who speak of the horrors of modern Communist China - they are the Left's unpeople.  They simply don't exist.  If they get too loud, like African American senator Tim Scott, then it's torrents of insults along the lines of Uncle Tom (or the preferred Uncle Tim), or House N----r, or similar kindly labels.

Obviously, a sane and mature individual of good will can see fast that these groups, and those in them, matter not a single bean for the modern Left/Media.  Just like the poor.  Ever since the Covid lockdowns, the Left/Media has acted as if no one is poor in America.  I counted on one hand minus two fingers the number of news stories that zeroed in on the catastrophic toll that the lockdowns took on the poor and lower rungs of society.  The media preferred feel good stories about how the latest celebrity or millionaire turned their mansion's foyer into an impromptu putting range to pass time while obediently abiding by the latest Covid mandates.

Same with today.  Staggering inflation rates, food pantries depleted because people can't afford groceries, rent and housing off the scale, the rising cost of automobiles, young parents unable to afford basic necessities for their babies, record setting credit card debt (akin to what preceded the 2008 collapse).  And how are these handled?  When covered at all, they're tied to some 'how communities can help' or 'here's the silver lining' or 'the good news is!'.  No connecting the dots and suggesting there is anything significantly wrong with the economy.

Really.  A couple weeks ago, one of our local news stations demonstrated this nicely.  There was a commercial for a special city-wide fundraiser to help raise money for parents who can't afford diapers (over 50% unable to do so per the commercial).  Then the first story following the commercial was how one of the economic indicators looked awesome, mostly because of a rise in manufacturing due to government spending on infrastructure.  Things are looking promising for Bidenomics, or so they said.  And the immediate story after that was how local agencies are coming together to help people in the area who are unable to afford food for their families due to inflation.  Why does the press present such a threefold 'people are unable to live - economy is looking awesome! - people are starving' story template?  Because a liberal Democrat is in the White House, that's why.  Let's not make it difficult people.

Again, the Left - and perhaps due to the growing number of editorials and posts extolling the virtues of Marx and his ideals, we can start calling a spade a spade - doesn't care.  It cares not if blacks are murdered by the truckload on an annual basis.  Women and girls raped only matters depending on who does the raping.  Hispanics killed?  The poor starved?  Or the fate of anyone in any such designated group?  It cares insofar as they join the coalition to destroy the Western Democratic tradition and the Christian Era.  Or if their suffering can be exploited to do so.  Otherwise?  See the Unperson mentioned above.

That's why it's heartening when you see stories like this, though not surprising.  A group of Native Americans are suing to have the name Redskins restored to the Washington team.

The family of the eponymous Aunt Jamima brand was outraged when their matriarch's name was erased from the product that made her famous.  Likewise, the family of the founder of Land O'Lakes was equally upset that the famous image of an Indian woman on the packaging was erased.  Because, according to them, it was put there by the founder due to his love for and admiration for Native American people.

In the case of the linked to story, those Native Americans who were polled, who expressed support for such names as the Redskins, and were flagrantly ignored by the Left/Media because they were of no use to the destruction of American heritage, are fighting back.  Good for them I say.

The Native Americans portrayed by the modern Left today never existed.  They aren't even fan fiction.  They are more fever dream fantasy fiction on acid. But the real Native Americans were a rich and fascinating culture that should be studied, celebrated when deserving, and listened to.  And not only those who resent and hate the West and would join the Marxists and work for its destruction. But the other ones as well.  We'll see how this goes.  I'd be shocked if the Leftwing media covers it, but you never know.

Sam Rocha gives a shout out to Karl Marx

And pulls a trick I've never been fond of:

I found my way to his Twitter thread, and then went to the comments section of the article in question.  Unless there is some other forum he's referencing, I saw nobody suggesting Karl Marx was alive in the 20th Century. Catholic or otherwise.  Nor have I ever heard anyone say such a thing.   I did find some commenters supporting Sam who posted goofy things. But I found nobody suggesting Marx was alive in the 20th Century.  If you say 'these people seem to think', then show some quotes and let us make the call.

In any event, all of this might suggest that Sam, like more and more on the Left, is prepping to come clean about his views on Marxism, if not full blown Communism.  He would hardly be alone.  The last decade or so has seen a growing number of pundits, journalists, news outlets, activists and others extoling the virtues of Marx, Marxism, Communism and Communist states.

At least they're letting us know what we're up against.  If it ever becomes the default ruling ideology of America, the results won't be any different than they have been anywhere else.  Only this time there won't be an America to oppose it.

Bonus:

I found that assessment of people who disagree with Sam rather telling.  IMO, it says more about Sam and how he views religion, than these people he references.

The Left and the ruination of everything

Some say the Left ruins everything.  When I think of what it has done to the Boy Scouts, to sports, to the military, to churches, I'm inclined to agree.   But what do we expect?  Increasingly those on the Left are opening up with their Marxist, pseudo-communist leanings.  They fully reject God and the Gospel and Jesus Christ.  They declare their opposition to the Bible and the Christian values and teachings of the Faith. They make plain their desire to throw down the Christian West and the American experiment. Therefore, those who see value in the heritage of Western Christian civilization can't help but see the destruction and damage done to all areas of life this movement touches, including art and our basic values and cherished principles.

The above clip looks to be in response to calls for the removal of Gone With the Wind that happened a couple years ago.  His dig about the hallowing and sanctifying of Presentism as the Left's prime approach to history was nice to see.  An approach universally condemned in my undergrad and graduate days, it has become the exclusive approach to studying the Western tradition over the last two decades.  I'll leave you to figure if this approach has helped or hindered the quality of our cultural output.

And suddenly nobody cares about Martin Luther King

Or so you'd think.  I'd forgotten that this weekend was MLK weekend until it was mentioned on the local weather report.  It's been a long time since I've heard MLK mentioned or quoted.  I know President Biden referenced him in his 'enemies of the state' speech.  But that's one of the few times I've noticed him mentioned in recent months.  Ten years ago I knew three months in advance how many days it was until MLK Day.

This is quite a development.  It was the late 1970s that schools were compelled to give the day off, even before it became an observed federal holiday.  I remember that well.  States that didn't go along with recognizing the day were protested and boycotted.  Economic boycotts in some cases.  Walk outs by black students.  Until they agreed and recognized it.

In our school district, they handled it by making us go on Presidents Day and giving MLK off for a couple years until they could adjust the calendars.  My mom, a former Civil Rights Movement supporter, was upset about that, as were others.  But it was part of the movement to make MLK into America's default hero.

By the 1990s, I began to call him our proxy Jesus.  Since by then mentioning Jesus in mixed company was no longer proper, MLK became a fine alternative.  Plus by then you had several books and documentaries lifting him up to almost godlike saint status.

I remember an episode of The Cosby Show that touched on the holiday.  I forget the storyline.  But the climax of the show centered on the Huxtables watching The Speech on television.  The whole family gathered to watch.  Suddenly halos appeared and a divine light emerged from the television screen as angels gathered to sing holy praises.  I exaggerate of course, but it was that level of hagiographic adoration and worship of the event that was emerging across our country.  The Speech was quickly becoming the single great moment in our nation's history.

When I entered ministry, it was nothing to hear MLK be the most quoted individual in a given sermon.  That was especially true among my African American colleagues.  But even white ministers could be heard quoting and referencing MLK more than anyone else, save perhaps Jesus.

When my sons went to public school in the 00s, MLK season was that, a season.  Before the Winter Break, they would begin preparing for the really big celebration of MLK Day.  January was the crescendo, but it extended through February owing to Black History Month.  Plays and programs, special assignments, movies and specials - it was ten times more than Christmas ever was when I was in school.

By the time I was moving to become Catholic, I remember saying not a week went by that I wouldn't hear MLK referenced at least a half dozen times.  You couldn't encounter a news article or editorial, or a sermon or an interview, or a documentary or speech, without hearing MLK both referenced and quoted.  When I was still part of a ministry conference, I said I didn't get into the whole MLK day brouhaha.  You'd think I denied God's existence.

And then suddenly, BAM!  It started before 2020, but since 2020 he's almost fallen off the edge of the world.  I literally go months now and never hear MLK mentioned.  In fact, the only real mention I've seen of him before last week was when Nikole Hannah-Jones, author of the laughably anti-American 1609 Project, insisted MLK never wanted a nation where we didn't judge based on skin color.

Which might be the problem. What the Left is doing in its move to destroy the West and America is to reinstate racism and racial discrimination and segregation.  White Privilege, Systemic Racism, BLM rely on the idea that you absolutely should judge based on skin color.  After all, how did we know racism had anything to do with George Floyd but by racially profiling the police officer in question, and judging based on his skin color?  How do we know someone has White Privilege but by judging their skin color?

The whole trick is to use whiteness the same way Germans in the 1930s used Jewishness.  The idea that the white race is a pox on humanity, and anything you don't like or want can be blamed on white racism and dispensed with accordingly (including such laughable ideas as equality, liberty, freedom, sanctity of life, and even democracy), is predicated upon judging and condemning based on skin color and ethnicity.

And when racial discrimination and prejudice are so essential, you can't be lifting up some crazy looney adulterer (which has been pointed out quite frequently I've noticed) running around saying we need to judge content of character and stop judging based on color of the skin.  Hence why I had forgotten about this weekend until our dear weather person dropped the name.  I've seen a few things mentioned since.  But nothing - not a damn thing close - to what it used to be.

Welcome to Orwellian America.  Another unperson for your lost files.

Most do not want this

I was looking at a story from the Associated Press picked up by FOX News.  It's the typical 'Thanksgiving is genocide, woe to the poor Indigenous people who were beautiful'.  As was pointed out in the comments section of my post on this earlier, check the  comments.  Most people think this is bunk.  My experience in the work place and the streets of America is that most Americans - Black, Red, Yellow and White - reject such nonsense.

The problem is, our institutions are run by people who want such nonsense sanctified and proclaimed as gospel truth.  In the above story, many of the commenters say they are American Indian.  That's about right.  My wife's family is replete with Native American heritage, with some family members a mere generation away from American Indian parentage.  None of them buy this bilge.  Like that funny meme a few years ago, if you think the Redskins should change their name, chances are you're not Native American.  That was after the WaPo tried desperately to find overwhelming numbers of Native Americans wanting it changed, and barely found a quarter of those surveyed to agree.

The Left, Marxist based and communist driven, seeks the destruction of the Western Democracies, and our concepts of liberty, freedom and sanctity of life.  To that end, it will do and try - anything.  And since it controls our media and educational outlets, it can do as it will.

USA Today says we should use Thanksgiving to teach how evil white people are

Right here.  Of course the Thanksgiving myth was a lie, that much is obvious.  Indians were perfect, once more that's obvious.  And white people were a vicious, brutal, murderous, racist lot.  Again, let's follow the science people.

This isn't unique.  As this story shows, in colleges across America communism is openly glorified while the communist take on American history is embraced.  In an odd twist, the only professor my son has had who spoke openly against communism was one of his economics professors.  Otherwise either the evils of the West and America are exclusively taught, or in some classes socialism and even communism proudly endorsed.  This isn't just in classes, but in the college campuses and culture as a whole.

Things are happening fast now.  The year 2020 was a turning point.  The Left seized upon the crazy to not only teach people to grovel before the Machine, but it seized communist inspired hatred of America and desire to destroy the Western Democracies and has all but sanctified it.

How long Thanksgiving will last is up for grabs.  But then how long the Constitution and our principles of law and freedom will last is also anyone's guess.  Americans are willing to follow this development.  Most probably don't want it to happen, but will stand by while it does.  The ones with the power and influence in our nation clearly want it.  And many Americans will rally behind the destruction of all freedoms when it is called for.

Oh, and it's fine to say communist.  I'm sure some might quibble or point out this or that difference.  But given the growing number of Americans and influential outlets extoling the virtues of socialism, Marxism or even full out communism, that sort of quibbling will only ensure those Americans and outlets will get what they want.

What is so bad about Critical Race Theory?

What's bad is that it's a leftist term that the Left sought to mandate that got turned on its head.  Conservatives were successful at showing it for what it is: an anti-American agenda with strong whiffs of old Soviet era lessons about the scourge of Capitalist Imperialist Americans, but with racism.

The Left's ability to weaponize slogans and acronyms is well known.  BLM and #MeToo,  LGBTQetc., White Privilege and Homophobia.  And the Left can tarnish a group or label as well as anyone.  Remember when Teabagger became acceptable parlance, and it always meant white racist?  Or when MAGA was turned from a slogan to a white supremacist identifier?  Heck, consider the word 'White' itself.  It's used now entirely as a negative, a slur, an insult.  Why, I just saw a cosmetic company proudly announce it would no longer use the word 'White' to describe its products, even ones that deal with things like whitening (which term would also no longer be used).

That's power.  That's serious Big Brother level newspeak.  And with a monopoly in the press, pop culture and public and higher education (plus some help from our friends in Church leadership), the modern Left has been able to seize or ignore, dismiss or inflate a host of words, phrases, slogans and other verbal tricks to build up and destroy, defend or attack, and most of all advance the leftwing agenda.

But somehow, Critical Race Theory was seized by those it was meant to attack and used against the designs of the Left.  Those designs are to teach an entire generation that beyond our nation being a 400 year old genocidal, racist Nazi state, that anything to emerge from it, white people, or the Christian West is ipso facto colonialist racist White Supremacist evil. Things like presumption of innocence or burden of proof, free speech, religious liberty, the Golden Rule - why the list is endless of things born of this evil that are in serious need of elimination.

Nonetheless, the ball was dropped.  It was fumbled on the five yard line and the opposition picked it up and ran.  The ones it was to target and the things it was supposed to demonize turned around and did a pick-six.  And now the Left's wrath knows no bounds.  Expect accusations of racism to fly like bullets in a Matrix movie, and leftists to double down on America as the country that inspired Nazi Germany to evil and therefore must be burned.  All who don't call down hellfire on the American Experiment will be racists, just as all who fail to bow before the liberal gospel are racist.

Interesting

The Federal Government is launching an investigation against Southlake Carole Schools..  That was one of the districts that erupted against the Left's CRT/America as Racist Nation agendas and ended up filling the district's elected offices with decidedly non-leftist advocates.

Now the Feds are stepping in to look at Civil Rights violations. Why do I have a feeling this is about the parents who oppose the Left's agendas being indoctrinated in our schools, and not so much about anything else?  Is it just me?

Liars and the Left

Too honest for the modern Left
I'm sorry, but I'm throwing a Five Rotten Eggs Stink rating on this story.  It's an NBC story (right there a warning flag), in which a teacher in Texas claims to have been told to balance a book about the Holocaust with an 'opposing view.'  Of course, all because of that horrible anti-CRT legislation going on.

Now, I read the article, and it unpacks a somewhat rambling set of interviews and accounts that is clearly meant to suggest anything hindering the liberal agendas in our schools could lead to insisting any book that says raping children is bad will have to be balanced by 'opposing views.'  Which as sane people, we know to be false.

In fairness, the article does interview proponents of the anti-liberal indoctrination legislation who make it clear such gibberish is just that, gibberish.  But in classic journalism form, you have to delve into the mid-section of the article to find the substance and the pertinent information from those who actually oppose CRT and other leftwing indoctrination moves in our schools.

The bookends of the article, however, are filled with 'we'll have to teach the Holocaust is good, and that's going to make wonderful teachers quite and we're all going to die!' hysterics.  Which, combined with the headline, is all NBC cares about.  After all, NBC knows the vast majority will read either the headline only, or the first couple paragraphs at best, with a few more reading the last couple paragraphs.

Again, it's the press's famous 'how to be honestly false' trick.  It's meant to gin up hysteria and panic and divisions.  And it taps into those people - in this case teachers - who are willing to shovel endless BS and lunacy, if not lies, for the cause.  The cause being turning our schools into leftwing indoctrination camps that bar and ban any opposing views.  And that's not hysterics.  That's a fact. And it's a fact demonstrated by the slick and duplicitous ways in which CRT and other measures are being supported and advanced by educators and the press.

UPDATE: As if on cue, Deacon Greydanus jumps in with the requisite hysterics that our precious children will be forced to learn the Holocaust was good!

This is actually a copy from Mark Brumley's FB page, which seemed to join in the panic.  Several commenters jumped in and wailed in great mourning over this development where our wonderful teachers will be forced to teach the glories of the Holocaust.

This is how it happens.  This is the power of the narrative the press wields.  Any sane, thinking person knows that nobody is going to demand the Holocaust be given equal time and consideration.  And yet an accusation can be made, the press runs with it (again, couching the details that minimize the story in the middle of the story), and hysterics commence, even among people I wouldn't expect it from.

Note Deacon Greydanus's invocation of 'not them', in that this is a school administrator who, apparently, would never lie or exaggerate.  Or the teacher wouldn't?  Just like no woman ever lied about being assaulted during #MeToo, now we can assume no school administrator would ever embellish on the truth for partisan gain?  See the amount of rubbish, dumb and stupid needed to keep up with modern times?  And again, not just from hardcore leftwing advocates.  We all can fall into the pit. If we think our large number of diploma wielding graduates protects us from the mob insanity of past ages, we need to think again.

UPDATE II:  So I've done some digging, and as the news feeds begin to pile up with the hysterics inducing headlines, it's easier to find more information.  I discovered the administrator who sent out the message that we'll need to teach 'opposing views.'  Because of her position, she doesn't seem to be too political on Social Media one way or another.  I can't say she's some frothing at the mouth leftist, or righty.  She doesn't seem too critical of the latest educational agendas and strategies, but that's about it.  Did she send this out because she bought into the usual partisan handwringing?  I mean, I've heard those who support the 1619 Project or CRT say if you oppose those, you're as good as saying slavery was awesome and there's nothing better than the smell of genocide in the morning.  Did she merely run with that assumption?  Was she being purposeful in such a vague directive?  Did she do this to trigger the media firestorm that is commencing?  A stealth partisan perhaps?  Or was it naiveté or carelessness in wording?  Hard to say.

After all, the phrase 'opposing views' is vague, perhaps purposefully so.  For instance, if the curriculum says the Holocaust happened because Germany was a Christian country and it was a very Christian directive, there are views that say otherwise.  There are some who suggest the Holocaust had bupkis to do with Christianity, and that it was in fact driven by other ideologies and agendas.  That would be one example of 'opposing views.'

But again, we have a vague phrase with nothing to go on but the vague phrase, and the clear desire by the press to frame this as a 'your kids will have to learn that raping teddy bears is good' narrative.  And as the good Deacon Greydanus demonstrates, that's already having the desired effect.

Because America is a racist nation

We have seen endless numbers of non-whites giving everything and, sometimes, risking everything to come here for decades.  Makes perfect sense to me.  If I cleaved unto the 90 ft. Left at least.  Those who don't bow before the 90 ft. idol are often infected with a deplorable amount of sanity and can see such a story and conclude the carefully crafted media narrative about a 400 year old racist Nazi state called America might just be slightly askew of the facts.

If lynching is the first thing you think of when you see a tree

Then you might need to do some praying.  Or if not a religious type, at least some therapy.   In the olden days, we would have considered this type of reaction to point to a deep psychological ailment.  Not today of course

Today, as the national mental health industry pulls in revenues that dwarf many a Fortune 500 corporation, the perspectives we used to call psychologically compromised are now endorsed and encouraged.  As I think of the money the mental health industry generates, I wonder if it's not like dentists prescribing chocolate and candies to their patients.

Of course by lynching, I think we only mean blacks who were lynched.  Whenever I heard this objection, I get the impression that all those whites, or other ethnicities, who died by such means are of no particular interest.  I could be wrong, but that's the impression I have.

Nonetheless, we've encouraged this sort of thing.  Our experts, our mental health counselors, our scientists and doctors and national leaders (and some religious leaders) have all encouraged the reaction we see in this story. I don't blame the individual in question.  She's merely going where our nation's institutions and leaders have told her to go for several decades now.

And yes, I get that this is happening in Portlandastan, that part of America so far to the Left it barely can tolerate communism.  This whole story is the result of eliminating mascots deemed too white and Western - the great Western genocide.  But the coalition being formed to destroy the Christian West and its values and freedoms is a shaky one.  Even now there are cracks in the walls.  Expect these to get worse as the powers behind the Western purge scramble to end up on top of the ash heap.

I never thought I could consider voting for Donald Trump

But the Left has done yeoman's work making me reconsider that assumption:

The Left's self righteous and arrogant war on America, the Christian West and Christ are enough to make a person do all sorts of things. Since I won't follow the 'kiss the Left's arse' approach to hoping it just impacts everyone else, voting for Trump increasingly doesn't just seem like the right thing to do.  It seems increasingly like the sane thing to do.

The Soviet of San Francisco to abolish American heritage

This is the sort of thing that isn't worth dwelling on.  It's San Francisco.  Like many metropolitan centers run by the Left, it pines for a communist totalitarian state and will promise endless sex and drugs to the hoi polloi to get us there.  It need only eradicate the heritage that brought freedom, equality, democracy and the striving for human dignity to the world.  With what we're seeing, we now understand how so many could goosestep around Berlin in the day.  I think it's the speed with which the annihilation of the United States is occurring that is shocking. That it's happening or was inevitable is not the issue.  That it took barely a generation to embrace the evils of the last century and use them to destroy America and the Western Tradition, all while being fully embraced by a growing number of Americans (Christians, too), is the shocking part.

Teachers Unions in action

Here:

Yep.  That's a growing thing with America's communist revolutionaries:  Guillotines.  Which is fair.  They've already convinced leftist Americans - including Christians and Catholics - that the Robespierre approach to justice is the only approach to justice.  That is, enemies of the Left of any race, gender, creed or religion - must be eliminated.  At this point we don't even care about facts, evidence or truth.

So there is a purity in honesty with it all.  Some are just stunned that a Teachers Union would give such symbolism glowing praise.  And not only that, but support 'wherever this is headed.'  Woof.  Sane people and Christians who believe in the Church's historical teachings on sin in a fallen world know damn well where it is headed.  Increasingly the American communists are flagrant about where they want it to go.  And increasingly they are getting more and more support from our elites, our power players, even our religious leaders.  As can be expected.  See the last century for more examples of such developments.

One way Conservatives screwed the pooch, as the old saying goes, was alienating those who livings were tied to things like the government or taxation.  And that includes schools and education.  Somehow Conservatives pledging to hack and slash taxes (and hence, the benefits and pay of those who relied on such income), along with their pledge to downsize (that is, throw thousands of government workers out on the street) led to an interesting development.

That development was people who worked in such professions increasingly favoring and supporting the opponents of those who wanted to slash their incomes or throw them out on the street.  And if that opposition wanted things like godlessness, communism, tyranny, oppression, genocide, racism, or whatever, guess what?  Those in such professions might not have enjoyed doing it, but they nonetheless chose to join that rather large historical group known as the 'enablers' by preaching and teaching the doctrines of that opposition.  Given how many teachers we hear discuss their latest cruise in the Caribbean or annual trip to Disney World, I think they chose wisely.

That is one reason this happened.  There are many others, as is always the case with historical developments.  But now we're beginning to see the end result of this revolution's designs.  We see what it wants, how it wants to do things, and its end goals.  And we're watching as we are impotent and unable to stop it.

Why are we shocked that some at the DNC eliminated "Under God"?

So everyone is up in arms about the fact that some events at the DNC have had the Pledge of Allegiance a couple times in which the phrase "Under God" was removed.  One with LGBTQ groups, and one with Muslims who worship the same God Christians worship.  My response: And?

This has been that communist takeover long anticipated.  Not pure communism of course.  In fact, I haven't seen a clever term or phrase used to describe it.  Is there an increasing number of articles, editorials and opinion pieces singing the praise of communism?  Calling for Marxism, pure communism, and good old Communist States over America?  Oh yeah.  Last year alone I saw at least a dozen from major outlets doing all of that.

And I'd wager there are more than that in lesser places.  And forget colleges and schools.  My boys' World History textbook sang much glory music for various Marxist and communist leaders, while giving little to American presidents or heroes (except of a minority or female sort).   And even when I was in college (mid to late 1980s), there were plenty of pro-Communist/USSR folks I ran into.  At least two professors I had openly preferred the USSR to the USA, and several students I knew agreed.

It's not just communism, however.  The Left has all but sanctioned racism and racial bigotry by merely scratching out old racist documents against blacks and Jews and replacing those ethnic labels with 'White'.  By that, they mean Caucasian, but they use 'White' as some pox upon the world in need of eradication.  Add to this Left's growing obsession with assisted suicide, euthanasia and selective abortion as ways to mass exterminate inconvenient and unwanted people, and it's not hard to see parallels with that brand of fascism associated with Germany in the 1930s and 1940s.

Beyond that, it's clear that the Left hates the Christian Faith alone of all the religions in the world.  You don't have to read deeply into textbooks or other publications to see the disgust and loathing aimed exclusively at our Christian heritage.  The same goes for hatred of Europe and Western culture in general.  In itself, this 'Left' tends to be a godless movement, with only the vaguest and meaningless ideas of some 'god' if any.  But it tolerates most other religions for now, as long as they join in the destruction of the Christian West and its bastard child America.

Therefore, that they have removed what was put there to separate America from the godless communism of the Soviet Union should come as a shock to nobody.  Just like that old MSNBC commercial that eliminated references to our Creator from the quotes it played from the Declaration of Independence.  To hear that old commercial, we just have rights for some reason - not any God thing.

This is antiChrist of the first order.  This is the stuff of hell and evil.  It's born of that 'Culture of Death' that Pope John Paul II understood was at the root of both the communists and the fascists and the nazis.  It is alive and seizing control of our nation even as we speak. And it is making it clear what the goal is, the end is, and what the nation they want will look like.

Perhaps it's too late.  It wouldn't surprise me.  America was, like most things that rise high in this vale of tears, the exception to the rule.  Most of last century, and in many places in the world today, we see the rule. That is where we are going.  Too late to stop?  I can't say.  I just know we're going there and going there fast.

The Jesuits put out a Social Justice viewing list

Here.  'Nuff said.

If America does become the next socialist totalitarian terror state of gulags and/or gas chambers, its flag will have a footnote at the bottom saying, "The Jesuits approved this message".
