When a Hollywood actor is more outraged about New York's abortion law than Catholic apologists

Here:

Meanwhile, a devout pro-life Catholic apologist reacts:

No big thoughts on it.  Sure it's 100% the GOP's fault (factually wrong of course, but Mark is about 99% wrong on everything he posts at this point).  But the main thing is, no real big thoughts on it.  It's just the legalized murder of babies inches away from birth.  Nothing to see here.  Let's move on.

In fairness to Mark, at least he commented.  I was going to post some other examples, but damned if I could find any New Prolife Catholics who commented.  Mary Pezzulo at Steel Magnificat and Rebecca Bratten Weiss at Suspended in Her Jar were noticeably silent.  They did each post pieces reflecting on National Holocaust Remembrance Day, reminding us how horrifyingly evil were those Americans, Christians and Europeans of old.  Ms. Pezzulo also posted a mock "apology" in which she laments expecting anything from the Covington students, so she's sorry she had harsh words to say to kids who obviously should have had the bar of expectations buried low in the dirt.

Other than that?  Not a single word - not a jot or tittle - on Patheos about the new law that makes it so much easier to murder a baby with only seconds to spare before it is born.  I guess Ms. Pezzulo was exhausted from trying desperately to keep the slanderous and racist attacks on the Covington kids alive, and of course Mark was also spending his energies trying to find Muslim activists, radical Leftists, and anyone else who could heap scorn on those white skin sissies who are all bothered about multiple death threats, bomb threats, threats of expulsion, condemnation from their own church, calls to have their applications to colleges flagged, and celebrities offering favors and even oral sex if someone would just take those boys out and beat them within an inch of their lives.

Such is the New Prolife Catholic movement.  Like the Left itself, evil and human suffering matter ... insofar as it benefits the Left.  Otherwise?  Eh.

If those lamenting Holocaust Remembrance Day want to learn from it, it might be worth asking who is burying their heads in the sand, offering to build trees around the new barbed wire fences so nobody can see, or even joining in with the goosestepping parades today?  Who is embracing the racism, murder, narcissism, hedonism, bigotry and the sides dedicated to the same?  It just might surprise them who really owns the horrors of the past.  And they might not like it at all.

BTW, well done Mr. Davi.

  1. OT, but I saw that Mark was getting slaughtered in the comboxes of his recent Covington post (unless he's deleted all the negative comments since this morning, of course). I don't think I've ever seen his comment section so restive.

    1. I hope it's a sign for the future, that others are going to be calling Mark out. Though it could just be the fact that even the most partisan are going to balk at someone defending attacks against children that have been shown to be 100% false.

  2. Shea has a new tweet in which he bashes the demand that some action be taken against those "catholics" who passed the NY law, as being the latest "right-wing panic du jour." It's like he's not even pretending to be Catholic anymore.

    1. Doesn't surprise me. Again, he will usually either hate who or what the Left says to hate, or celebrate and endorse what the Left says to. On those rarest of occasions where he just can't twist the Faith around the Left (such as broadening the mass slaughter of the innocent through looser abortion laws), or it calls on him to hate what he just can't (maybe racist Tolkien or Chesterton), he'll simply insist somewhere he stands on Church teaching, and then attack (often with false accusations or judgmentalism) anyone who tries to take a stand against the respective intrinsic evil or sin that cries out to heaven for vengeance.

  3. Here is another member of that Patheos group Scott Eric Alt (Don't call me leftist)even though I support everything on the left and what he said about abortion.

Scott Eric Alt shared a post.

Ye Olde Pro Life Movement has done its
stated goal no favors by portraying women who have abortions as selfish, instead of (1) having compassion on the fear and poverty that leads the LARGE majority of women to abort; (2) advocating *public* assistance programs to help women who find themselves in these circumstances.

    1. As if giving people more money will solve the problems of the world. When did that become the liberal Christian answer? BTW, IIRC, the old 'abortion because women are poor' is based on a very narrow reading of the stats. While higher poverty does seem to be associated with higher abortion rates, it's not as simple as 'give them money and it will go away.' Much of that is based on lack of contraception or sex education (supposedly). Also many who cite finances also cite other reasons as well. Plus the broad 'because of money' reason also includes any reason based on money (the corporate woman wanting sex and nothing to get in the way of the bank account). All in all, it's focusing on a relatively narrow part of the issue, like keeping the discussion on rape and incest when those are barely a drop in the overall bucket. But then if I was allied with the party that just took the first step toward all out legal infanticide, my options for rationalizing my position would be limited.

    2. David,
Absolutely correct. As we know Shea is the more well known of the two we are talking about but Alt hitched himself to the Shea bandwagon so he just parrots whatever Shea says to a large degree. They both make sure to delete any comments that are critical of them though.

  5. If anyone still thinks that Shea was ever really a Catholic - then they seriously need to rethink the severity of their own naivety. Shea's real belief system has always been entirely about promoting Shea. Glorifying Shea. Vindicating Shea. And of course - validating Shea. All he needs is a medium, an established platform of ideas, and he will hijack the paradigm for himself and make himself the Divine arbiter of all its "truthiness" - and eternally damn those who dare oppose his wisdom and expertise in his latest club. In other words - he's a narcissistic sociopath who hijacks movements. Because he's still a fat loudmouth nobody punk in the schoolyard who always needed to be a special grownup somebody in the adult world.

    1. Mark Shea is Mark Shea's biggest fan outside of Scott Eric Alt of course. Scott is very close to being his number 1 fan. The guy applauds everything Shea does. Quite hilarious to watch. Reminds me of the old cartoon dog. Are we friends George? What are we gonna do today George? (If you're older like me you remember that one) LOL
