By now I'll assume the French riots were not fueled by radical rightwing Nazi sympathizing Trump supporters. Because most media outlets, while covering them and mentioning them, haven't made them a 24/7 front page storm of endless hysteria.
But as I watch, one thing I've noticed. Among everyone - the press, Catholics, conservatives, liberals (who have mentioned them at all), or anyone - not a single person has pointed out that the riots almost immediately followed on the footsteps of Pope Leo's visit to France.
I wonder why. Maybe it's just me and it doesn't mean a thing. Cosmic coincidence. But as a fan of history I notice that few things happen in history just out of cosmic coincidence. I know there was much talk during Pope Leo's visit of the massive crowds and upswing in people entering the Church, and a turn around in general Christian church attendance after eons of decline.
Of course for all I know, those people are the ones rioting. But I don't think so. Again, I looked and haven't found anyone who has talked about the riots drawing that line. Am I nutty? Or is it possible that that the two are connected in some way?
