Of the major industrial powers only the U. S. has a birthrate at replacement level, most of them are at half of replacement. Why do we have an economy dominated by social media, because companies that make things have fewer people to sell to.Andyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01519635260752637813noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6226269873507053740.post-80115379520395903842018-03-26T14:43:14.264-04:002018-03-26T14:43:14.264-04:00I think the problem is that decadence and narcissi...I think the problem is that decadence and narcissism and hedonism make good consumers. A world of gimme, gimme, gimme, get, get, get will get you people with little sales resistance. So more and more companies encouraged that sort of 'care for nothing...but me and my libido.' Problem? In the real world, that sort of life leads to consequences. Hence abortion, the ultimate safety net. And if you're a company thriving on a nation of little hedonists, it doesn't do good to be seen not supporting all the trappings of a society based only on me. Of course for many companies, it matters not if the population dwindles since they have the corporate market to keep them warm. But for some, I'm sure the payback will be hell. Well not philosophically. If you take the long view, logically companies want families and lots of kids because they'll always be hungry for new customers, and the easiest way to get new customers (as well as the most fun) is to have them made the old fashioned way. ESPECIALLY if you are a toy store or any other kind of business that is child focused - because children eventually grow up. Of course that's just the "logical" goal - it's not like humans are well known for taking the most logical course for a long term benefit.Nate Winchesterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00630873800235819300noreply@blogger.com
